How Can Article Marketing Benefit Your Site?

Everyone who has ever searched for anything on the Internet has ran across those articles that people write about a variety of products. At first I wondered why people take the time to write articles. I knew that they must be getting something in return unless they just had way too much time on their hands.

Of course, that was way before the days that I started really learning about the Internet Marketing game. Now I know exactly why people invest time and money in Article Marketing. Mostly it is because articles gets them traffic or visitors to their site, thus getting their offers in front of hopefully buying customers. But sometimes people use Article Marketing just to get a backlink to their site.

For those who do not know, a backlink is a link that is put on another site that directs back to your own site. For example, if you write an article and at the end you put the words, “Click Here Now” you can make that a link back to your site by adding some html code making the “words” an anchor text (a href=”http://yoursite.com”) Click Here Now (/a). But you change the () into <> to make it work :)

The reason that site owners do this is that Google gives a lot of weight to sites with a large number of backlinks. Backlinks is how Google decides whether or not a site is an authority on a subject. But using the words such as “Click Here” will not give you as much weight as if you would use your article’s keyword(s) there instead. For example, instead of the words “Click Here” you could say “Best TV Wall Mount” in your anchor text at the end of your article about TV wall mounts. – You get the idea.

But remember, not all article sites are created equal. If you want to do Article Marketing the Right Way, then you want to choose article sites that have a high pagerank. This will give your link more weight than a site with a lower pagerank. It is also great to get a do-follow link instead of a no-follow link, as the search engine spiders will follow that link to your site.

Some of the bigger Article Directory sites such as ezinearticles and goarticles get a lot of internal traffic also, which can give you more visitors to your site as well. Plus Google loves article directories and spiders them often. Sometimes this can lead to your article showing up on page 1 of Google very quickly for certain keywords.

It is also important to know that you can use the same article on many article directories. But you will not want to just copy and paste it as Google is likely not to index that article, thus not giving you any benefit. Instead you will want to “spin” your article. This can be done easily using software such as Magic Article Rewriter You will want to also change the title somewhat, though keeping your keywords. By keeping your article at least 30% unique from your original, Google should index it and not treat it as duplicate content. So you could actually get a number of backlinks off of just one article that has been spun.

In the end, just remember that writing articles gives your site backlinks, which in turn gives your site more authority, thus hopefully helping your site to climb to the top of the Google search for your keywords. Plus, your article might also show up on page 1 of Google, which will also give you more traffic and hopefully more sales.

Yes, article marketing does take some time and effort. However, a good spinning software can help ease this process. Plus, what you are looking to do is create backlinks for your articles and not depending on just internal article traffic to bring your site traffic. The more backlinks your site has the higher it should rank in G.
