Is Internet Marketing for You?

Over the years of studying internet marketing, I have heard this phrase repeated by all the gurus more times than I can count. “Stay out of IM and go for an easier niche.” But I am not sure if they are all staying this because it cuts down on their competition or if it really is too hard to break through. Well, since I have always been headstrong and pretty much try things even though others doubt I can do it, I have decided to dedicate this site to internet marketing…basically for the beginners.

When starting out in internet marketing, especially if you have never done it before, there is a lot to learn. Anyone who tells you that you can make a gazillion dollars in just a few days is LYING to you!! That is like saying, “If you watch me perform surgery, you can do it too.” It is just not that easy. I do not care what anyone says. It takes time. But with that said, if you do already have a lot of money and can pay someone else to do everything for you, maybe you can make money quicker. That is if you can find someone you trust. But if you are rich, then why would you be wanting to learn all about internet marketing in the first place. Most of us choose to do this because we are searching for a way to make more money, quit our current job, spend more time with our family, and to be able to continue to make money even on days when we are not working. At least that is why I started. Plus I have always enjoyed learning new ideas and have been amused at what makes people tick.

I feel that there are four basic attributes that you must possess if you want to be successful in this business.

1. The love for continued learning
2. The guts to go for it
3. Self discipline
4. Patience

Unlike learning math, internet marketing is an ever changing world and you must be willing to learn and change with it in order to be successful. What works today may not work tomorrow. And if you spend weeks and months learning new ideas before you ever act on them, you may find that much of what you have learned is now obsolete. This can cause you to waste a lot of valuable time before ever making a dime. Most internet marketers get so frustrated that they give up before ever making a dollar online…or at least not making very much. You MUST and I repeat MUST not be afraid to fail. Anyone who makes money online though marketing, has failed and probably more than once. That is the only way you can figure out what method works for you. Think of internet marketing like learning how to walk. If, when you were a baby, you were afraid of falling and never tried to walk, you would still be crawling around on all fours. But you weren’t afraid. And even when you did fall and suffer the bumps and bruises, you kept on trying. Well, pretty much have to have the same mentality with Internet Marketing. It just comes with the territory. No one is going to judge you if you make mistakes. Heck, no one is probably ever going to know but you and whoever you tell. So don’t be afraid.

Lastly, you must possess a certain amount of self discipline and patience. This is true for anyone starting a business of their own. No one is going to make you work. You must make yourself work. Some days, especially in the beginning, there may not be any rewards for your hard work. And this can cause you to get discouraged. Don’t! Keep on pushing through. Internet marketing does work, but you have to be self motivated and patient in order to see the results.

Eventually, through trial and error, you will find your comfort zone, why type of marketing you enjoy, and you will start making some money and yes, it is true, if you stick with it, you can make a sweet living online, in your own home, sitting in your PJs.
